BASEMENT BATHROOM REVEAL | BEFORE & AFTER

Big Boy Bruno is back in action

Ok so ...I will let you in on a little secret. This bathroom has been completed since February 2021. I know, I know, but cut me some slack, I already begged for forgiveness in my last post so here we are 12 months later. Enjoy the progress with me :)

This is the last of 3 bathrooms in our Bronx home to be renovated and it is my favorite. During the process of mood boarding this space I gave myself liberty to do things differently . With the main bathroom I went the safe route- clean, simple, modern- because its the most used and I wanted it to be timeless. This time I opted for grown and sexy, which in my mind still stayed true to my taste but also brought in some elements that I was drawn to.

Before we could even get started on the finishes we had ALOT of work to do. Some of what you don't see are the days of demo and trash removal, the reframing of the space, spray foam insulation, concrete leveled floors, all new electrical, automatic light switches, a heated floor system, drywall, mudding and lots of sanding to get the room ready for good stuff. Be prepared to find things you didn't expect when you open up a 60 year old home.

This bathroom has a larger footprint than the main floor so I opted for Black Hexagon Polished Marble tile with white grout which really made it feel more luxurious and a 3x12 Polished Ceramic subway tile with light grey grout to balance it off. We found both of these tiles locally at Floor & Decor in Long Island . My little apprentice in training love to voice her opinion while we shop.

The vanity is an Ikea Godmorgon with the addition of gold vanity legs sourced from Amazon. The black vanity faucet and shower hardware were all sourced on Amazon as well. As you can tell by now I love a good black fixture and have kept this consistent throughout my home. My favorite addition to the space are the black and gold wall sconces which I found on Etsy. They add beautiful warm light to the space and an extra touch of flair tying everything together.

Hope you love it as much as I do !

xoxo
